  • I'm Georgina Godwin.

  • My guest today is an international best-selling author, journalist and editor.

  • Born in Incheon, Korea, she was raised in Portland from the age of nine,

  • and she received a degree in art and archaeology from Princeton University.

  • She founded and was editor of Peaceful Dumpling,

  • an online magazine covering sustainable lifestyle and literature.

  • Her first novel, Beasts of a Little Land,

  • was a finalist for the Dayton Peace Prize and won a prestigious Russian award.

  • Her latest novel is City of Nightbirds.

  • It's set in the world of ballet and it was chosen for Reese Witherspoon's book club and I'm sure he's going to go on to many,

  • many other wonderful book clubs and to win awards because it is fabulous.

  • I came in and I was just listening to your book on audio and I came in and you were early and unfortunately you saw that I was in fact crying.

  • All I can say is I can see the passion that you have poured into this book
