Join NPR Plus.
With NPR Plus, you get extended interviews, inside looks at your favorite shows, and more.
All while supporting NPR and never having to pull an all-nighter.
Or if you work on one of the new shows in All Morninger, sign up at plus.npr.org.
Hey there, it's Tamara Keith, one of the hosts of the NPR Politics Podcast.
Today is October 1st, 2025.
It's a historic day for NPR and stations nationwide,
because it's our first day without federal funding.
This day reminds me of why I do this work.

my local public radio station made me feel connected to the rest of the world,
and it helped me dream big.
For more than a decade, I've had the opportunity to be a White House correspondent for NPR,
taking our audience into the Oval Office and on Air Force One,
and pressing three different presidents on issues that matter to you.
I believe in the power of stories to connect people across neighborhoods,
political divides, even oceans.
Public media has always been powered by people like you, not politics or profit,
