Is there about to be an end to the horror in Gaza?
Not just that, but a new dawn across the Middle East.
The question may sound overblown,
but then just consider the language used by President Trump at the White House,
standing alongside the Israeli Prime Minister on Monday.
It was, he said, potentially one of the great days ever in civilisation.
Ahead said Mr Trump, he could see eternal peace.
He was speaking at the release of a 20-point plan for Gaza and not just for a cease-fire,
a release of hostages, a freeing of Palestinian prisoners and a surge in aid.
But there was a vision for the securing and reconstruction of Gaza,
for a new governing authority for the enclave,
a group of Palestinian technocrats supervised by an international board chaired by President Trump,
for the disarmament of Hamas and for, and I quote,
a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and stated.
On that,
There sounded today like a very public repudiation of that ambition from the Israeli Prime Minister speaking in Hebrew on social media,
