My name is Anna and you're listening to week 37,
day three of your English Fiver Day, the second season.
This is the series that allows you to dunk daily into the English language so that no matter how busy life gets,
you are still adding.
to your huge growing mountain of vocabulary,
your improving your listening skills and little by little you're becoming more confident when speaking English.
So let's begin today's episode as we always do with a snapshot of what's to come.
Vera began to complain loudly in the middle of the street about her left flip-flop.
Honestly, she shouted, I really have a beef with this shoe.
It's completely inadequate.
Look at it flapping about, offering no support whatsoever.
Determined to resolve the issue,
she kicked the flip-flop into a nearby bush and marched barefoot to the shop.
I will justly demand a refund, she muttered.
Because no human being should suffer betrayal from footwear like this.
Okay, it's time to look at the vocabulary more closely.
And kicking it off, we have a very common verb and it is the verb complain.
Complain.
Now if you complain it means you express dissatisfaction or annoyance about something.
