Welcome to Meet the Writers.
Today we follow a story that begins in Kashmir, lush, chaotic,
beloved, and moves through exile, reinvention and a series of unexpected turns.
Our guest lifers pass through Riyadh and Rome.
Ann Arbor and Los Angeles.
She's been a Hollywood agent, a writer, a mother,
a business partner to Jack Black and the co-founder of a women-led podcast network.
Along the way, she's written the memoir Bird Milk and Mosquito Bones,
which quietly unravels the threads of intergenerational trauma with humour,
heart and through a lens of startling honesty.
Priyanka Matu, welcome to Meet the Writers.
Thanks so much for having me.
We actually met in Jaipur in India where it was cooler than it is in London today.
It's so uncomfortable outside.
But you live in LA, I mean surely it's like this all the time.
It's dry and consistent.
We have that.
Well,
tell me about Kashmir
because I know very little about it and of course it's had such a troubled history.
