And so it has proved to be.
Many of the delegates in the hall in New York walked out just as the Israeli Premier was about to begin speaking.

Shortly afterwards, Mr Netanyahu walked up to the lectern and spoke for more than half an hour.
It was broadcast not only in the assembly hall,
but also tellingly on loudspeakers across parts of Gaza.
