The UN looks set to restore sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program after the failure of a last-ditch attempt to delay them.
A resolution put forward by Iran's closest allies, Russia and China,
failed to get the required support at the UN Security Council.
It means the sanctions will be reimposed at midnight GMT on the night of Saturday into Sunday.
Speaking to the Council, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi criticised Britain,
France and Germany who jointly accused Iran of breaching the 2015 deal aimed at preventing it from developing a nuclear weapon.
And he also laid blame firmly with the United States.
We have unfortunately a terrible experience of negotiating with the United States.
We negotiated once in 2015 and we made a deal that the whole world celebrated as an achievement of diplomacy.
But what happened?
Only after one year the United States withdrew and reimposed its sanctions.
