  • Jimmy Kimmel returned to the airwaves last night after a brief suspension by Disney for comments he made in the days following Charlie Kirk's killing.

  • Kimmel entered to a standing ovation and he devoted the first half hour of the show to the controversy.

  • He began by thanking all the people who had spoken out against his removal,

  • including other late night show hosts and Republicans he disagreed with,

  • like Senators Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell.

  • Then he addressed his remarks about Kirk, tearing up as he spoke.

  • It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man.

  • I don't think there's anything funny about it.

  • I posted a message on Instagram that Dave's killed sending love to his family and asking for compassion,

  • and I meant it.

  • I still do.

  • And he said he had never intended to blame a specific group.

  • Of Disney, Kimmel said he disagreed with their decision to suspend him,
