Jimmy Kimmel returned to the airwaves last night after a brief suspension by Disney for comments he made in the days following Charlie Kirk's killing.
Kimmel entered to a standing ovation and he devoted the first half hour of the show to the controversy.
He began by thanking all the people who had spoken out against his removal,
including other late night show hosts and Republicans he disagreed with,
like Senators Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell.
Then he addressed his remarks about Kirk, tearing up as he spoke.
It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man.
I don't think there's anything funny about it.
I posted a message on Instagram that Dave's killed sending love to his family and asking for compassion,
and I meant it.
I still do.
And he said he had never intended to blame a specific group.
Of Disney, Kimmel said he disagreed with their decision to suspend him,
