Welcome to Otherworld.
I'm your host, Jack Wagner.
This is the second part of a two-part series.
If you haven't heard the first, you should go back and start from there.
In the last episode, we learned about Cecilia's family in Cuba and their connection to spiritism.
Spiritism was not something that Cecilia, her mom, or even her grandmother practiced.
But after her cousin had a tragic accident,
the family was gathered together and not sure if he was going to survive.
Over the next few days, while they waited to hear if he was going to make it,
Cecilia's grandmother began reading from an old spiritist book that she inherited from her own mother.
This was something that they were doing more so for a family moment of unity.
A prayer basically looking to hold on to any bit of hope,
or find any way to maybe help their relative who is on the brink of death.
Then, out of nowhere, during one of these readings,
Cecilia's mother seemed to be taken over by the spirit of somebody else.
The spirit of Cecilia's great-grandmother.
Interestingly, she seemed to not only know things she couldn't have known,
but also she didn't know things that she should have known.
For instance, she didn't recognize her own son, who was only a baby when the great grandmother died.
And mind you, this is all happening to Cecilia's mom,
