Beijing has released a white paper on the Communist Party of China strategy
for governing Xinjiang in the new era.
The document comes as the Northwestern Autonomous Region is marking its 70th founding anniversary.
It says focusing on national strategic needs and leveraging its natural resources and industrial capabilities,
Xinjiang has accelerated efforts to develop a modern industrial system with its own unique advantages.
Executive Vice Governor Chen Weijun elaborated on the economic breakthroughs in the far west region.
For example, last year, the regional GDP surpassed 2 trillion for the first time.
Import and exports have reached new record high.
Last year, it has reached 434 billion yuan.
