  • I'm Georgina Godwin.

  • My guest today is a multi-award-winning writer based in Sydney.

  • She's known as one of Australia's premier authors.

  • She was born in Sri Lanka.

  • She moved to Australia as a teenager and was educated in Melbourne and Paris.

  • She was the founding editor of Australian Women's Book Review, and she's edited The Travel Guide,

  • the company Lonely Planet, while setting up their office in Paris.

  • And she wrote and published her first novel, The Rose Grower, in 1999.

  • Her book, The Law...

  • Ross Dogg was longlisted for the 2008 Booker Prize and the Orange Prize,

  • and she's won Australia's top literary award,

  • the Miles Franklin twice, for questions of travel in 2013 and the life to come five years later.

  • In 2023, she was awarded the Folio Prize for Scary Monsters.

  • Her latest novel, Her Seventh, is the genre-busting Theory and Practice,

  • which has just been awarded the prestigious Stella Award.
