单集文稿 ...

  • Hello, welcome back.

  • This is episode 198.2, meaning that there's a part one.

  • Last week's episode was about the expression against all odds.

  • And today, you'll hear a story about a man who survived against all odds.

  • So let's go ahead and begin.

  • Hi everybody!

  • My name is Shauna and this is the American English Podcast.

  • My goal here is to teach you the English spoken in the United States.

  • Through common expressions, pronunciation tips, and interesting cultural snippets or stories,

  • I hope to keep this fun, useful, and interesting.

  • Let's do it!

  • The other day, I researched most incredible survival stories from the United States.

  • And the goal for that was to find a story that would be exciting,

  • and maybe even a little unbelievable.

  • And I ended up discovering, or rediscovering, the story of Hugh Glass,

  • a frontiersman from the early 1800s who dramatically fought a grizzly bear and survived.

  • The story inspired the Hollywood film The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio.

  • Lucas and I saw it when it came out in theaters in 2016,

  • and I can still visualize most of the dramatic fighting scenes,

  • which is not really my thing, but Man, the story is entertaining and I bet you'll enjoy it.
