Hello and welcome to NewsHour from the BBC World Service.
We're coming to you live from London.
I'm James Menendez.
And we're going to begin in Thailand, in a day of political upheaval,
after the country's constitutional court dismissed the Prime Minister, Petong Tan Shinawat.
The judge saying there, reading out the verdict, that in performing her duty as Prime Minister,
the accused should have exercised good judgment and chosen to do it in a way that didn't violate the constitution and therefore,
He went on to say her term as prime minister had ended.
Well,
the case centered on the former premier's handling of a long running border dispute with Thailand's neighbor,
Cambodia,
a dispute that spiraled for a few days into open conflict last month before a ceasefire was agreed.
And in particular, on a phone call between Petong Tan and Cambodia's former leader Hun Sen,
which he then leaked.
