At least fifteen people have been killed in Ukraine after a night of heavy Russian bombardment. Ukraine's air force says more than six-hundred drones and missiles were fired by Moscow - the second highest number since the war began. The EU accused Russia of targeting it after its diplomatic mission in Kyiv was hit. • You're listening to NewsHour, coming to you live from London with me, Paul Moss.

  • Ukraine's President Zelensky had some choice words to describe Russia on Thursday.

  • Instead of choosing the negotiating table, he said they chose ballistics.

  • He was speaking after at least 15 people were killed in a drone and missile attack on the country's capital.

  • Residential and other buildings were hit.

  • This woman, Sofia, was inside one of them.

  • At first, I heard an explosion just in the background,

  • then one strong explosion, and then the windows were broken.

  • I wanted to get up and run, but I waited a couple of seconds, and there was a second explosion.

  • We ran out.

  • There were no doors or windows.

  • Honestly, it's never happened before that they attacked so close to me.

  • Everyone is suffering now.

  • It comes to any area.

  • As we can see, no negotiations have yielded anything yet.

  • Unfortunately, people are suffering.

  • Well, the latest we're hearing is that among the dead were four children.

  • But emergency teams have been working through the night and the casualty figures have been increasing.

  • as one body after another is pulled from the rubble.

  • I'm joined now from Kiev by our correspondent there, Katie Watson.
