But first, Six months ago, Donald Trump and Narendra Modi shared a warm hug at the White House.
Now, India's Prime Minister stands humiliated.
After Trump doubled India's tariffs yesterday, the duties on Indian imports to America stand at 50%, among the highest in the world.
Trump said the additional levy was to punish India for buying Russian oil,
which the White House says has helped fund Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine.
Last night, Peter Navarro, a White House advisor, went further, labeling the conflict in Ukraine Modi's war.
The road to peace runs in part through New Delhi, he said.
How will Modi respond?
That isn't yet clear.
