Welcome to The World in 10.
In an increasingly uncertain world, this is The Times' daily podcast dedicated to global security.
Today with me, Laura Cook and Stuart Willey.
Back in June,
Israel and then the US joined in on a devastating offensive targeting Iran's nuclear program in a 12-day war that ended in a US-brokered ceasefire.
This week,
European powers are set to meet with Iranian officials to address the nuclear issue again,
with the looming threat of sanctions under the so-called snapback mechanism.
Meanwhile,
analysts and even Iran's president are expressing doubts about the ceasefire's durability,
warning that Israel... maybe on the brink of reigniting the conflict.
Our guest today is someone who's been sounding the alarm about the possibility of another war,
Trita Parsi, Executive Vice President at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft.
Trita, you've taken this a step further, suggesting a new conflict could be just weeks away.
What exactly is coming?
Well, I think first of all,
I think it's critical to understand that from the Israeli standpoint and their calculations,
many of their key aims in the previous war were not achieved.
But having started the effort towards achieving them,
it would be from the Israeli standpoint dangerous to stop at this point.
