12 分钟Hello and welcome to the English Like a Native podcast.
My name is Anna and you're listening to week 33,
day 5 of Your English Five a Day, the second season.
With this series,
I'm here every day of the working week from Monday to Friday to allow you to build a habit of listening to English on a regular basis.
so that over time you expand your vocabulary,
improve your listening skills and start to feel more confident and more like yourself when communicating in English.
Today is Friday, which means we bring together all of our vocabulary in one big story.
Today's story does come with a trigger warning.
as it deals with the sad subject of miscarriage.
So if this one might be a little too painful for you, then perhaps you should skip.
But if not, then sit back and listen to the story.
Here goes.
At the Crossroads Steph lay on the examination bed, paper sheet rustling under her as she shifted.
The room was dim, the air gently humming with the sound of medical equipment.
It was the 12-week scan.
The one where everything is supposed to become real.
Or not.
She felt like she was standing at a fork in the road.
Two paths stretched out ahead, but she couldn't see which one she was about to walk down.
