He is also the special representative on the China-India boundary question.
Wang is set to attend special representatives' talks.
China's foreign ministry said Beijing hopes to have in-depth discussions on topics including border control and cross-border exchanges.
A spokesperson also expressed China's willingness to jointly safeguard peace in the border region.
Wang also held talks with his Indian counterpart.
