单集简介 ...

Organisers of the Los Angelos Olympics in 2028 have agreed a landmark deal with the International Olympic Committee allowing venue naming rights to be sold to commercial partners for the first time in the games history. Honda and Comcast are the first naming partners. Presenter Roger Hearing also examines why some Americans are drinking less and what this means for the big drinks companies like Carlsberg. And PostNord in Denmark has decided to bring to an end to 400 years of letter deliveries - and focus instead solely on parcels from 2026. We hear from there about what this means for the future of the industry.

  • Hello and welcome to Business Matters.

  • I'm Roger Hearing.

  • On the programme today,

  • the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics are to be the first where companies can name venues after their brands.

  • Also,

  • the former boss of Mexico's state oil company is arrested in the US over a massive bribe scandal.

  • And last orders.

  • Less alcohol is being consumed around the world,

  • so what does that mean for the companies that make and sell it?

  • And I'll be joined throughout the programme by two guests on opposite sides of the world,

  • Dante Disparte, Chief Strategy Officer at Circle, who's in Washington,

  • and in fact not the other side of the world,

  • just a bit further north, Takara Small, National Technology Columnist, CBC in Toronto.

  • So Dante, a very good evening to you.

  • Good evening, Roger.

  • Great to hear you.

  • And Takara, very good evening to you as well.

  • You as well.

  • Anyway, great to have you both here.

  • And we'll start, as we always do, getting a sense of what's going on where you are.
