单集简介 ...

Today, we’re looking ahead to Friday’s meeting in Alaska between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, as Trump hints at a potential land swap to end the war in Ukraine. Trump announced the meeting last Friday, the same day of his self-imposed deadline for Russia to agree to a ceasefire or else face more US sanctions. Meanwhile, European allies have rallied behind Ukraine in a renewed show of support, insisting that any peace talks with Russia must include Kyiv. Joining Adam to look ahead to the talks are Christopher Steele, the former Head of the Russia desk at MI6, Vitaly Shevchenko from Ukrainecast and Sumi Somaskanda, the BBC’s Chief News Presenter in Washington D.C. • Hello.

  • It's simultaneously great to be back in the newscast studio,

  • but also sad not to be in Edinburgh anymore because we had a great time at the Fringe.

  • And I hope you enjoyed listening to our episodes that we did with an audience of newscasters at the Edinburgh Fringe.

  • The Scottish theme is actually going to continue

  • because the next episode of Newscast you'll hear after this one will be our much-trailed interview with Nicola Sturgeon,

  • the former First Minister of Scotland.

  • She's got her autobiography, Frankly, out and she did a very,

  • very frank interview here in the Newscast studio, which we recorded a few days ago.

  • And so you'll be able to hear that in the Newscast feed very early on Tuesday morning.

  • And also it will be broadcast on television on BBC Two on Tuesday evening.

  • at 7pm so

  • if you want to watch it as well as listening to it that's the place you can see it but please Sit and listen and watch or think about this episode of Newscast.

  • Newscast.

  • Newscast from the BBC.

  • He has just compared me to the Fat Controller.

  • Did I say that?

  • I can't believe I said that.

  • Next question.
