A senior UN official has warned against the possible expansion of Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Miroslav Yanka, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Europe,
Central Asia and the Americas, has urged Israel to stop any such plan.
He has also called on Israel to immediately allow rapid,
unimpeded passage of humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza.
His remarks came after Israeli media reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is favoring a complete military takeover of the Gaza Strip.
According to Israeli media reports,
Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to meet with a few senior security officials to finalize a new strategy for cabinet consideration later this week.
