  raising the total tariff on Indian imports to the US to 50%, one of the highest rates in the world.

  The US president's executive order came despite his senior envoy,

  Steve Witkoff, holding talks in Moscow with President Putin,

  with the Kremlin describing them as productive and the US president saying great progress had been made.

  So much so that Mr Trump says he may soon hold a meeting with a Russian leader to discuss a ceasefire in Ukraine.
