单集文稿 ...

  • Hello and welcome to the English Like a Native podcast.

  • My name is Anna and you're listening to week 30, day 5 of Your English 5 a Day, the second season.

  • I'm here every day of the working week from Monday to Friday to help you to have your daily dunk into the English language so that over time...

  • You expand your vocabulary,

  • you improve your listening skills and you start to feel more confident when using the English language.

  • So, today is Friday,

  • which means we bring together all the vocabulary we've looked at this week in one big story.

  • Are you sitting comfortably?

  • Then I'll begin.

  • Carol's Spanish translation test disaster.

  • Let me tell you a story about a friend who's British but lives in France.

  • We'll call her Carol.

  • She had always been someone who liked a challenge.

  • But when she decided to go back to university in 2011,

  • this time in France rather than the UK, she hadn't quite realised what she was getting herself into.

  • After working for several years,

  • She'd made the bold decision to quit her job and pursue a master's degree in international business with languages.

  • Perhaps she should have taken the advice to look before you leap,

  • but it seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine her professional interests with her love of learning.

  • The programme required all students to study English, which was straightforward enough for Carol.
