  • Hello.

  • We got a big shift in the government's position on Gaza today.

  • The Prime Minister said that the UK would be prepared to recognise a Palestinian state at the United Nations in September.

  • But…

  • That is only

  • if the Israeli government does certain things and stops doing certain other things in the meantime.

  • So it's not just a cut and dried offer to recognise the Palestinian state.

  • And that's different from what Emmanuel Macron, the French president, did last week.

  • So there's quite a lot to unpick here, but that is what we will do on this episode of Newscast.

  • Newscast.

  • Newscast from the BBC.

  • He has just compared me to the Fat Controller.

  • Did I say that?

  • I can't believe I said that.

  • Next question.

  • This is R for the benefit of Earth.

  • I'm not personally a huge Sabrina Carpenter fan.

  • I don't think I'm being rude.

  • I like landscapes.

  • Take me down to Downing Street.
