But let's start with the news that many thousands of civilians in the border area between Thailand and Cambodia are being evacuated and fleeing as exchanges of artillery fire between the two countries continue into a second day.
The long, largely forested border region has been the scene of historic tensions for decades.
But clashes in the past few days are fueling fears of escalation and possibly a new conflict.
Each side is blaming the other for... the deadly strikes on Thursday,
the Thai army accused Cambodia of firing rockets into civilian areas in four separate provinces,
which triggered their retaliation, they say, with F-16 fighter jets to strike Cambodia.
We'll hear from our correspondent on the Thai side of the border in just a moment.
First though, let's hear from the Cambodian journalist,
Narin Sun, who's near Samrung City in northern Cambodia.
And we did suspend an earlier interview.
on safety grounds with him as he could hear gunfire close by.
We did manage to catch up with him later.
20 minutes ago I hear the gunshots over my hotel and I need to move a little bit outside.
We are talking now at some place that I think is safe.
It's around 50 or 60 kilometres from the place where Thailand and Cambodia exchange firing.
It has been reported and I also witnessed some shots from some artillery firing.
from Cambodia firing back to Thailand and it was told that Thailand also fly drone into Cambodia and Cambodia troops also fight back the drone.
We've heard there have been some casualties on the Thai side.
Is there any word of how many people may have been injured or even killed on the Cambodian side?
