单集文稿 ...

  • Hello and welcome to the English like a native podcast.

  • My name is Anna and you're listening to week 29,

  • day five of your English five a day, the second season.

  • With this series,

  • I aim to help you to achieve a daily dunk into the English language so you can build a habit and start slowly but surely.

  • expanding your vocabulary,

  • improving your listening skills and in turn start to feel more confident and more like yourself when communicating in English.

  • All you have to do is tune in on a regular basis.

  • Today is Friday which means we bring together all the vocabulary we've looked at throughout this week into one big story.

  • So, listen carefully.

  • and enjoy.

  • This story comes from one of my team members.

  • It's called The Morning That Changed My Holiday.

  • It was one of those sweltering summer mornings that makes you question why anyone ever complains about British weather.

  • I was staying at my parents' house.

  • tucked away in the converted loft space that served as our bedroom when we visited.

  • Their bungalow wasn't exactly built for heat waves and the roof extension,

  • where we slept, seemed to collect every ray of sunshine like a solar panel.

  • My parents had been slowly trying to renovate the place over the years,

  • but some parts of the house were still in a bit of disrepair.
