Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen,
who are in Beijing for the 25th China-EU summit.
President Xi noted that China-EU relations stand at a critical juncture,
as this year marked both the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
He emphasized that interdependency is not a risk and shared interests should not be seen as a threat.
The Chinese president added that boosting competitiveness should not involve building walls or cutting supply chains,
which would only lead to self-isolation.
The EU leaders reaffirmed the bloc's commitment to deepening cooperation with China,
managing differences in a constructive manner and advancing ties on the basis of mutual benefit.
They also stressed that the EU has no intention to decouple from China and welcome to Chinese investment.
