Hello and welcome to News Hour from the BBC World Service.
We are coming to you live from London.
I'm Krupa Bhatti and it's very good to have you with us.
We begin this hour in Gaza, where the images of malnourished children and babies are haunting.
Over 100 international aid organisations and human rights groups have warned of mass starvation in the territory and are pressing for governments to take action.
Israel, which controls the entry of all supplies into the territory,
rejected this statement and accused the organisations of serving the propaganda of Hamas.
The head of the World Health Organization,
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, spoke today about the conditions inside Gaza.
The large proportion of our population of Gaza is starving.
I don't know what you would call it other than mass starvation.
And it's man-made.
And that's very clear.
And this is because of blockade.
And then of course there is opening now.
But it's not enough.
It's just a trickle.
And people are starving.
Imagine 1026 people have died while trying to feed themselves.
If they are not starving, imagine risking their lives.
