China is intensifying its opening up by moving toward island-wide independent customs operations in the Hainan Free Trade Port on December 18.
This means flows between Hainan and overseas markets will be managed under simplified procedures.
The proportion of zero tariff products in Hainan Free Trade Port will increase from 21 to 74%.
To support the transition, China's top economic planner has rolled out a package of new policies.
This include broader zero tariff coverage, more relaxed trade management rules,
faster customer clearance, and a more efficient supervision model.
