  • BBC Sounds, music, radio, podcasts.

  • Chris, hello.

  • Hi. We've had an excellent entry into the Newscast inbox for political and news and current affairs malapropisms.

  • Oh, terrific.

  • Martha sent us this message.

  • She said, hello, Newscast.

  • You asked in your recent episode for things that people have misheard on the news.

  • Whilst it's not mishearing, for many years I read MOD, Ministry of Defence, on a news article.

  • I always thought it meant Match of the Day.

  • It wasn't until recently that I realized my mistake.

  • I was very confused for a long time why Match of the Day were making certain announcements.

  • Yeah, that's a good one, Martha.

  • I like it.

  • And I can sort of see how that could be simultaneously confusing.

  • But one of those things that isn't sufficiently kind of irritating or frequent that you feel

  • like you've got to Google it and sort it out.

  • And therefore it just sort of sits there.

  • And everyone knows now the acronym for Match of the Day is MOTD.

  • Anyway,

  • keep your acronym confusions or any kind of aural confusions coming to Newscast at BBC.co.uk.
