This summer on Planet Money Summer School, we're learning about political economy.
We're getting into the nitty gritty of what government does with things like trade,
taxes, immigration and healthcare.
So politics and economics, which are taught separately, they shouldn't be separated at all.
I think you have to understand one to really appreciate the other.

The Pentagon has ordered the withdrawal of U.S.
Marines who were deployed to Los Angeles.
President Trump sent them in early June in order to protect immigration officers during protests.
Some of these were violent.
Steve Futterman has more from Los Angeles.
In a statement, Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell says the move comes with,
as he put it, stability returning to L.A.
He praised the Marines for restoring order and upholding the rule of law.
From the start,
the deployment of the 700 Marines was met with sharp criticism from state and local officials who said they were not necessary and only escalated tensions.
