Hello and welcome to the English Like A Native podcast.
My name is Anna and you're listening to week 28,
day 4 of Your English Five A Day, the second season.
We get together every day of the working week so that you can slowly but surely start to feel more confident when communicating in English.
by working on those listening skills, expanding your vocabulary and increasing your comprehension.
So, let's begin, as we always do, with a snapshot of what's to come.
Mark was such a lightweight that after just two beers he was completely sloshed,
stumbling around the garden party with a silly grin on his face.
When he tripped and began to plunge towards the swimming pool,
his sister jumped up out of her chair without a second thought to try to catch him.
The other guests watched wide-eyed as both siblings ended up splashing into the water together,
laughing despite being soaking wet.
Okie dokie, let's start by looking at the noun lightweight.
Lightweight.
We spell this L I G H T W E I G H T Lightweight.
Now you'll notice that when I say this fast I drop the middle T so rather than lightweight I say lightweight,
lightweight.
And this is for ease, lightweight.
But I try to put the T on the end where I can.
Lightweight.
