单集文稿 ...

  • Hello and welcome to the English Like A Native podcast.

  • My name is Anna and you're listening to week 28,

  • day 4 of Your English Five A Day, the second season.

  • We get together every day of the working week so that you can slowly but surely start to feel more confident when communicating in English.

  • by working on those listening skills, expanding your vocabulary and increasing your comprehension.

  • So, let's begin, as we always do, with a snapshot of what's to come.

  • Mark was such a lightweight that after just two beers he was completely sloshed,

  • stumbling around the garden party with a silly grin on his face.

  • When he tripped and began to plunge towards the swimming pool,

  • his sister jumped up out of her chair without a second thought to try to catch him.

  • The other guests watched wide-eyed as both siblings ended up splashing into the water together,

  • laughing despite being soaking wet.

  • Okie dokie, let's start by looking at the noun lightweight.

  • Lightweight.

  • We spell this L I G H T W E I G H T Lightweight.

  • Now you'll notice that when I say this fast I drop the middle T so rather than lightweight I say lightweight,

  • lightweight.

  • And this is for ease, lightweight.

  • But I try to put the T on the end where I can.

  • Lightweight.
