Hello and welcome to the English like a native podcast.
My name is Anna and you're listening to week 28 day three of your English five a day,
the second season.
I'm here every day of the working week,
providing you with material to complete your daily dunk into the English language.
Together, we can help you to feel more confident.
and more like yourself when communicating in English.
So let's begin, as we always do, with a snapshot of what's to come.
As a natural thrill seeker, Marcus had experienced many dangerous adventures.
But this hair-raising climb up the icy mountain face was testing even his limits.
He knew he had to brave the fierce winds and freezing temperatures.
The one wrong move would put his entire expedition in jeopardy.
The ledge beneath his feet was perilously narrow,
crumbling away with each step he took towards the summit.
Alright, let's now dive into the vocabulary.
Number one on our list is a noun thrill seeker.
A thrill seeker.
A thrill seeker is someone who enjoys taking part in thrilling things like extreme sports or other physical activities that specifically involve risk.
So for example, an off-piste Day of skiing might be thrill-seeking to some, terrifying to others.
And a no-go for me, I stick to the piste.
