  • an equivalent number of migrants currently in France will then be allowed to come into Britain legally.

  • A pilot scheme will start in weeks.

  • The British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, said illegal migration was a global crisis.

  • It is also very acutely a crisis for our two nations,

  • a crisis of law, security, humanity and fairness.

  • We face a sprawling multi-billion pound enterprise run by organised criminal gangs needing hundreds of people to their death in the channel.

  • So we're determined together to end this vile trade.
