From BBC Learning English, this is Learning English from the News,
our podcast about the news headlines.
Hello, I'm Georgie.
And I'm Phil.
In this programme,
we look at one big news story and the vocabulary in the headlines that will help you understand it.
You can find all the vocabulary and headlines from this episode as well as a worksheet on our website bbclearningenglish.com.
So let's hear more about this story.
Flash floods hit central Texas in the USA on Thursday night and Friday morning.
More than a hundred people have died in the floods and many are still missing.
A flash flood is a very sudden,
very fast flood of lower grounds, usually because of very heavy rain.
Victims include 27 girls and staff from Camp Mystic, a Christian all-girls summer camp.
Camp Mystic said in a statement on Monday, Let's have our first headline.
That headline again.
Unimaginable tragedy.
Texas camp speaks out after 27 campers and counsellors die in flooding.
And that's from the independent.
So this headline is about camp mystic, which, as we said, was very badly affected by the floods.
In this headline, the camp speaks out, which is the phrasal verb we're going to look at.
