Hello.
Today's episode of Newscast is going to focus on the United States
because we've got one of those moments where the Trumpian politics and the drama in Washington,
which can sometimes feel very theoretical, has collided with reality.
In this case, the devastating flash floods in Texas where lots of people have lost their lives,
including loads of young girls who were at... a camp that was hit by the floodwaters.
And people are asking questions about whether the build-up to the disaster and the response has been affected in any way by Donald Trump's attitude to the federal government,
epitomized by that moment where he appointed Elon Musk to run Doge, the cost-cutting unit.
So we will consider lots of those questions and the implications of all of this and who might have a point and who doesn't have a point on this episode.
of Newscast.

He has just compared me to the Fat Controller.
