The House of Representatives has approved a White House request to claw back two years of previously approved funding for public media.
The rescissions package now moves on to the Senate.
This move poses a serious threat to local stations and public media as we know it.

The number of dead in central Texas is still rising.
At least 82 people died in catastrophic flash flooding on the 4th of July. 27 children and camp counselors at Camp Mystic were killed.
In a new statement,
the camp says their hearts are broken alongside families enduring this unimaginable tragedy.
Some stories of rescues and survival are emerging.
Reagan Brown says his parents were able to get to their neighbors.
They were able to escape up the hill, and they got word of their neighbor being stuck in her attic,
so they went over and rendered aid and got her out.
She's 92 years old.
Search and recovery efforts continue with more rain in the forecast.
President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet at the White House today.
Trump is pushing for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Israeli and Hamas negotiators began talks Sunday in Qatar.
The ceasefire proposal calls for a 60-day pause in the fighting and the release of some hostages held by Hamas.
