  • the Financial Times and Schroders gave out their prize for the 2024 Best Business Book of the Year.

  • It was a tough competition.

  • The group of books that made the shortlist covered topics ranging from the technology revolution inside the US military to the management practices that have shaped the world's corporations.

  • But the book that took home the top prize is about a topic that has dominated the news in 2024 and will no doubt continue on in 2025.

  • That is artificial intelligence.

  • The book is called Supremacy, AI, ChatGBT, and the Race That Will Change the World.

  • The book's author is Parmi Olson.

  • She's a columnist at Bloomberg Opinion and previously a tech journalist at The Wall Street Journal and Forbes.

  • My colleague Andrew Hill is the FT's senior business writer.

  • He's been in charge of running the book awards since 2005.
