And we begin today in Washington DC where President Trump's so-called Big Beautiful Bill narrowly passed in the Senate.
After a marathon session lasting 26 hours and covering almost 1,000 pages of legislation,
it squeaked over the line,
but only with the help of Vice President JD Vance and the power of his casting vote.
On this vote.
The yeas are 50.
The nays are 50.
The Senate being evenly divided.
The Vice President votes in the affirmative.
The bill as amended is passed.
The big, beautiful bill is indeed enormous,
covering swathes of tax and spending policy, affecting every American in the country.
It's considered a cornerstone to Mr Trump's entire agenda for his second term.
Democrats are against it,
arguing it will take benefits and protections from poorer people to allow for tax cuts for the rich.
But US Senate Majority Leader John Toone of South Dakota welcomed today's result.
are focused on achieving the bill before us today.
