单集简介 ...

Today, we look at the reaction from politicians, Glastonbury, and the BBC to comments from Bob Vylan, a duo that performed at the music festival on Saturday. Rapper Bobby Vylan led chants of "death, death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]". A BBC spokesperson said: “Some of the comments made during Bob Vylan’s set were deeply offensive. During this live stream on iPlayer, which reflected what was happening on stage, a warning was issued on screen about the very strong and discriminatory language. We have no plans to make the performance available on demand.” The Israeli Embassy posted on X that it was "deeply disturbed by the inflammatory and hateful rhetoric". The festival said in a statement: “Glastonbury Festival does not condone hate speech or incitement to violence of any kind from its performers." We also hear from Health Secretary Wes Streeting on the issue, and on the upcoming welfare vote in the House of Commons. Faisal Islam joins to talk about the economic consequences of the government’s U-turn. You can now listen to Newscast on a smart speaker. • BBC Sounds, music, radio, podcasts.

  • So, sorry, did you do a funny driving U-turn thing for BH?

  • Was it hilarious?

  • Well, you've accurately summed up what the intention was,

  • so let's just have a listen to see how fun it was.

  • I'm here at the National Driving Centre with Paul McIntyre to learn how to perform a U-turn.

  • This is a giant HGV.

  • I'm going to hop in the cab and get a lesson on doing a U-turn.

  • Off we go.

  • So with these vehicles obviously being extremely large,

  • we need to think about the space that's going to be needed and the damage that's going to be caused when we do it.

  • These things don't like doing a U-turn.

  • Should you really try and get somewhere without performing a U-turn?

  • Yeah, the U-turn is absolutely the last resort.

  • You know, there's plenty of other options out there,

  • whether it's easier to find a more stable place to do that turning, you know,

  • a right turn, then a right turn, then a right turn, rather than,

  • you know, blocking traffic, causing anger on the road, causing problems.

  • That was a good idea Paddy, was it yours?

  • It was funny to start with and then it tailed off.
