28 分钟Welcome to the World, the Universe and us, the weekly news podcast from New Scientist.
I'm Dr Rowan Hooper.
And I'm Dr Penny Sausage.
On today's show, the incredible story of the mice with two fathers.
We're reporting on the breakthrough that has led to their birth and what it means for humans.
We also report on a new study showing how and why a power nap boosts your brain power.
And we've got scientific tips on how to get to sleep.
We're also going to hear about a lizard species that survived to the asteroid impact that killed off the dinosaurs.
Amazing.
I want to say it's miraculous that they survived, but we're a science show.
We don't believe in miracles.
No, we don't.
OK, we're going to start with the news that for the first time,
healthy mammals have been born with two fathers and no mother.
This picture I'm looking at now, it's of two normal, healthy mice.
But they have two dads and no mother.
So when you say no mother at all...
No genetic mother it means, yeah.
So there's a foster mother,
there's an embryo that's made and they're grown in a womb of a female.
