President Donald Trump said he needed more time.
For days,
he had been weighing whether to join Israel's fight against Iran with a strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.
On Thursday, he said he might need two weeks to make that decision.
But that was apparently a ruse.
Strike plans were already in motion.
Two days later, on Saturday, the United States bombed Iran.
Here's Trump addressing the nation after that attack.
Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace.
If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.
Trump says the goal was to keep Iran from building a nuclear weapon.
He warned Iran not to retaliate.
But today, we're already seeing Iran fire back,
targeting at least one U.S. military base in the region.
This is a fluid situation.
But what happens next and how Trump responds will determine whether the U.S. becomes mired in another protracted conflict.
