Hello, I'm Luke Jones.
Welcome to the documentary from the BBC World Service.
This time in BBC OS Conversations,
we bring together Israelis and Iranians to share their experiences.
Israel launched its Operation Rising Lion in the early hours of the 13th of June,
targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites,
claiming its long-time enemy was close to developing nuclear weapons.
Iran denies this and says its nuclear technology is for peaceful purposes.
Its leadership promised severe punishment against Israel before launching missile and drone attacks of their own.
Israel's Iron Dome defence system prevented many of those from getting through.
That was more than a week ago,
and every day we've been reporting the damage and casualties on both sides.
As we record this on Friday, the two countries continue to attack each other,
and President Trump in the United States is still considering whether they will get directly involved.
Our first conversation is with two Israelis.
Israel and Iran have been enemies for decades.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
has called Israel a cancerous tumour that should be uprooted and destroyed.
And Iran funds several groups which oppose Israel's right to exist,
including Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
