Following fevered speculation that Donald Trump was about to order a strike on Iran very soon,
he appears to have pulled back from the brink, for now at least.
In a news conference on Thursday,
the White House press secretary, Caroline Leavitt, made this announcement.
I have a message directly from the president, and I quote,
based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future,
I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks.
This comes as Iran has issued defiant warnings saying that Mr. Trump risked becoming embroiled in a quagmire
