  • I really need to go and listen to it.

  • Dropped?

  • Well, you'll know dropped, but can I just check you don't mean a song has just dropped on the floor?

  • No. In this context, dropped means something has been released.

  • It's a singer I love and they've been teasing this song, but I didn't know it was coming out today.

  • Ah, you didn't know it was dropping today.

  • So we can use drop for something new and exciting.

  • And it's not just songs that drop, a trailer for a film.

  • Film can be dropped or a fashion brand could drop a limited edition of something.

  • Yes.

  • And you know what?

  • A new season of my favourite TV series has just dropped.
