I'm Georgina Godwin.
My guests today are the winners of the 2025 Women's Prize for Fiction and Non-Fiction.
Organised by the Women's Prize Trust,
the prizes celebrate outstanding works by women.
They were awarded at a glittering ceremony,
and I'm so pleased to say that now,
the next day, I'm catching up with both winners.
And we start off with the non-fiction winner,
who is Dr Rachel Clarke.
She's a British writer and physician specialising in palliative and end-of-life care.
Her previous work includes Breathtaking,
an account of working inside the NHS during the UK's first wave of Covid-19.
That was adapted into a TV series of the same name.
Other works include her memoir about life as a newly qualified medical practitioner,
Your Life in My Hands and Dear Life which explores death,
dying and end-of-life care.
Her winning book The Story of a Heart is an unforgettable tale of how one family's grief transformed into a life-saving gift.
Rachel,
we last met I think in our pyjamas with your dog Harley around a breakfast table in Hay.
