Hello and welcome to News Hour from the BBC World Service coming to you live from London.
I'm Julian Warwick.
It was at about half past three in the morning in Iran when explosions were reported in the capital Tehran.
In Israel,
people were woken at around the same time by air raid sirens and emergency phone alerts.
All of this signalled the start of a major Israeli attack on Iran,
targeting, the Israelis say,
the heart of the country's nuclear programme.

that was from a video released by the Israeli army.
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes would continue for as many days
as it takes.
Moments ago,

This operation will continue for as many days
as it takes to remove this threat.
