Israel is exchanging fire with Iran,
and Israeli medics say at least three people have been killed and 70 injured,
after Israel launched an attack on Iran targeting nuclear facilities,
killing 78, including top security officials and nuclear scientists.
NPR's Hadeel Alshelchi reports.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council,
Iran's UN ambassador,
Amir Saeed Eravani, said that Israel's attack was a quote, barbaric and criminal attack.
These atrocities constitute clear act of state terrorism and flagrant violation of international law."
Israeli airstrikes killed the Iranian army's chief of staff and the chief of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard.
The Israeli attack on Iran has heightened worries of an all-out regional war.
The attack came after the U.N. nuclear watchdog censured Iran for not complying with its inspections and Iran defiantly saying it would activate a third nuclear enrichment facility.
