Details are emerging about today's Air India plane crash.
A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner passenger jet carrying 242 people bound for London crashed into a residential area.
It erupted into a fireball seconds after taking off from the western Indian state of Gujarat.
Indian authorities say that all but one of those on board the aircraft have died.
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson expressed deep sorrow about the crash.
This is a difficult day for all of us at Air India and our efforts now are focused entirely on the needs of our passengers,
crew members, their families and loved ones.
I know that there are many questions and at this stage I will not be able to answer all of them.
Boeing posted on X, quote,
we are in contact with Air India regarding Flight 171 and stand ready to support them.
