BBC Sounds. Music, radio, podcasts.
Hello.
We're recording this episode of Newscast on Tuesday tea time,
which means it's the night before the Spending Review.
And we're going to be doing a live episode of Newscast on BBC Sounds on Wednesday with all the details of the Spending Review.
And it will be with Chris and Faisal and Darshini,
which means I won't get a word in edgeways.
So I'm going to get my word in now.
And I've basically just written on my notes app.
six political implications of the spending review.
And I'm going to share them with you now because I know I won't get a chance to tomorrow.
So number one,
we will see the actual implications in black and white of the government's decision to spend more in defence.
So that will actually be spelt out much more clearly what the consequences of that are.
Number two, the government's current priorities will be revealed.
And they may be different from what the government's priorities were before and the priorities that got Keir Starmer elected in the first place.
Number three,
because this is a so-called zero-based review where the government has looked at everything it spends money on,
they will stop spending money on certain things.
And those might be things that are popular with some groups of people.
